Kasabian have been touring the country for almost a week now and getting rave reviews from everyone that sees them and their unique brand of Stadium Rock. Since they formed a decade ago they have only steadily moved up in the world, coming to a pinnacle earlier this year when they managed to headline

Glastonbury Festival. Anyone they come into contact with seems to turn into a fan.

When lead vocalist Tom Meighan wants to whip up the crowd into a frenzy, he

sure knows what he is doing. He was cool, calm, collected, and often the centre of attention. In direct contrast to this was guitarist and occasional singer Sergio Pizzorno, who was so awkward and lanky that you couldn’t help but love him, in turn making him an amazing

person to watch.

There was a very obvious bias in the crowd as everyone reacted much more

strongly to their first three albums. A total stadium banger like ‘Re-Wired’ off Velociraptor! (their 4th album) would have only half the crowd jumping, while just about any song off earlier albums would result in people excreting their nut in anticipation. Songs like Clubfoot, Empire, or Underdog all truly felt like a once in a lifetime experience as the entire room shook along with the wobbly bass.

Britain have known a secret for a long time; Kasabian are truly amazing. On this fine Sunday night, they turned out in force to show this fact. Over half of the 5000 people that packed into the Hordern Pavilion happened to have a think British accent in tow. It is satisfying that while Kasabian can headline massive festivals in England, they still feel like a niche in Australia.
