For many, the phrase ‘Come Together’ holds relevance only in the context of that Beatles song, but that’s all about to change: the Come Together music festival is back in 2015, and it’s bigger and better than ever.

For two days over the June long weekend, Luna Park is transformed into an all-ages friendly festival showcasing the very best of Australian independent and up-and-coming musicians. This year celebrates a decade since the inaugural Come Together festival, and therefore it seems fitting that, although early line-ups were rock-centric before moving to a strongly hip-hop audience, festival organizers The Music and LPS strive to pack both genres into what will surely be an unforgettable weekend.

The fact that the festival runs over two days does in no way diminish the line-up; if anything, it bolsters it. Hip-hop heads would be mad to be anywhere other than Sydney for Saturday 6 June, where the audaciously cheeky lyricist Seth Sentry headlines a fantastic bill of home-grown rappers. Alongside him are noodle soup enthusiasts Thundamentals and the smooth vibes of Horrorshow, as well as rising stars Remi, Coin Banks and Ivan Ooze. With free rides for ticket holders after 1pm, you can anticipate some blissed-out punters riding the Ferris Wheel and listening to a handpicked selection of Australia’s finest rhyme-spitters and beat-makers.

For the first time in over four years, 2015 sees the return of rock and pop to Come Together. Sunday 7 June boasts a line-up bursting at the seams with festival expertise and feel-good tunes: nationally renowned as one of the country’s top live performers, Brisbane legends Ball Park Music will cap off the festival with a monster closing set on the Big Top Stage, while the ever-youthful Jungle Giants will provide their pop-tinged indie rock to fans. Accompanying them is the dynamic Canberra trio SAFIA, fresh off the back of their haunting new single ‘Counting Sheep’. Rounding out the line-up are the heavenly vocals of Elizabeth Rose and newcomers Montaigne and Ecca Vandal.

Backed by the ever-supportive triple j and open to all fans over the age of 13, Come Together is a welcome addition to all festival-lovers’ calendar. Tickets and info are available via cometogether.com.au – All Ages Concerts hopes to see you there!
