Five things we're looking forward to in alt-J's album

English trio ∆ (alt-J) have recently unveiled two singles and announced a new album This Is All Yours due to be released in September. If you aren't excited enough already, here are five more reasons to be:

1- 'Warm Foothills'

This is without doubt one of my favourite things that Alt-J have manifested, the track was played commonly on their 2013 tour, and you would’ve caught it if you saw their show at Hordern Pavilion nearly a year ago, so it’s no hidden track, while adhering beautifully to their classic style, they have manipulated it from the delicate glockenspiel at the beginning, to a lovely whistling part that makes you truly appreciate what the song is trying to do.

2- The endless breaking down of song meanings

Now this was probably the most interesting part of their debut album An Awesome Wave because when people finally got around to understanding what lead singer Joe Newman was saying, came the next challenge to understanding his highly ambiguous stories, such as Tessellate from An Awesome Wave, which strikes as a song about triangles, but of course is far from it as through study unveiled a story about loyalty, jealousy and murder. These sort of songs are what make the trio different and I believe allow the viewers to become immersed in the music

3- Bloodflood pt. 2

One of my favourite things in music is track sequels, such as Snakadaktal with 'The Sun' part 1, 2 and 3. The outfit has done this through the formation of the track 'Bloodflood part. 2', which will take off where the original track left off.

4- Tour!

NO ALT-J TOUR HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED, buttttttt, I have a feeling that it would be very rude of them not to do an album tour due to their cryogenic freezing for the past year, and they have proclaimed their love for Australia and how much they love playing here soo *crosses fingers*. Their last show in Sydney was an all ages spectacular at Hordern on July 31st, which was also my first concert, and was definitely worth the $90 ticket, despite the 12 year olds texting the whole through until flume was played in between a support set and of course when, 'Breezeblocks' was played at the end of their set.

5- Music Videos

The music videos from the band have always been a dynamic medium for them, with masterpieces such as the video for 'Tesselate' which included a modern representation of the artwork “The School Of Athens” by Raphael, and also the thrilling saga that is the 'Hunger Of The Pine' video, so I guess it’s safe to say that many fantastic videos are yet to come.
