Brit-pop kings, The Kooks, are slowly becoming funk-soul-rnb masters of the universe with each newly released sliver of their upcoming release.
The last hip-hoppy single, Down, was released to mixed reviews of love, hate and confusion because of their strange and unexpected turn of sound, but the latest single Hold On is even more out of their genre/comfort zone, it's rife with funky basslines and wonderfully overindulgent, James-Bondy strings. Imagine noughties-esque Pierce Brosnan-James Bond emerging from the surf after being presumed dead and making plans to capture his enemies whilst making a steely super-model face and you'll see what I mean.
The new single is from their new EP, Down, which you'll be able to hear with your ears on the 21st of April. We're hoping for the wonderfully experimental melting pot of genres that these singles tease.
